A Diamond-Shaped Porcelain Dish
Arita Ware, Edo Period (Early 18th Century)
Moulded with scalloped edges at each of the four corners and resting on a raised diamond-shaped foot, decorated in the interior with two opposite panels of a phoenix and with two panels of a chrysanthemum, all four bordered by formal foliage and painted in polychrome enamels over clear glaze, the underside painted in underglaze-blue with four lengths of lotus scroll and with a zig-zag band around the foot
