Meiji Period (Late 19th Century), Gilt Mark Dai Nippon Satsuma Kizan
Painted in polychrome enamels and gilt over a clear crackled glaze, its back, shoulders and haunches draped with a tasselled caparison decorated with gilt hollyhocks, chrysanthemum heads and scrolls on gilt scrolling vines, a headdress of feathers and tassels over its brow
