An Earthenware Incense Burner and a Tea Caddy
Meiji Period (Late 19th Century), The First with Gilt Mark Tomonobu, Blue Enamel Shimazu Crest
Each painted in polychrome enamels and gilt over a clear crackled glaze, the censer with bush clover behind a brush fence, and a band of floral lappets at the shoulder, the pierced cover enameled with clouds below the Chinese lion-form finial, the handles moulded as Daikoku's mallet; the tea caddy with variously patterned fan-shaped reserves and flower heads and with gilt chrysanthemums and foliate sprays at the shoulder, the ivory cover with a gilded-paper lining
