Lot Essay

An identical flower vase dating from the later years of the master's life is published in the catalogue of the Modern Bamboo Craft Exhibition, Tokyo National Museum of Modern Art, Craft Gallery, 1985, fig. 18. A third vase dating from 1966 was exhibited at the Tochigi Prefectural Museum of Fine Arts in February, 1989, cat. no. 8.
