Late Edo Period (19th Century), Signed Ishiguro Masachika Saku Kore and Dated Ansei Go Tsuchinoe Uma Nen Aki (Autumn, 1858)
A brass trapezoidal plate with surface carved to resemble stone with a rooster, hen, and one chick beneath autumn plants, all inlaid in gold, silver, copper, shakudo, and shibuichi, the reverse with three chicks and autumn plants in similar inlays
3in. (8.3cm.) long, 3in. (7.6cm.) wide

Lot Essay

Masachika was a student of Ishiguro Masatsune I and worked in Edo, circa 1850.
