Four Cloisonne Enamel-Inlay Tsuba
Momoyama-Late Edo Periods (16th-19th Centuries, The Fourth Circa 1500)
1) A shibuichi mokko cup-shaped plate with indented sides and four heart-shaped inome corners, each lined with silver, the face with classic Hirata-school clear cloisonn enamel patterns and gold wire cloisons, silver wire swirls, gold dots, and gold cross bars, the reverse with similar decoration, the kogai hitsu with a gold covered plug; 2) a copper plate of oblong mokko shape with sanmai awase shakudo plates inlaid overall with doro shippo designs in gold wire cloisons on a deep blue ground, the floral scrolls in white, red, green, and gold, the reverse with similar floral scrolls on a sea-green ground, the edge with a shakudo rim cover; 3) a copper mokko plate with blue doro shippo ground with floral scrolls in copper cloisons and red, white, and gold glass, the reverse with similar decoration on a white ground; 4) an iron Katchushi mokko plate with amida yasuri ground and a high raised rim, the surface inlaid in the 19th century with a doro shippo champlev enamel design of a goose over water in green, white, and yellow, the reverse with water and reeds in similar colors (4)
