In the Transitional Style, Circa 1880, One by Veuve Sormani & Fils, Paris
Each surmounted by a pierced three-quarter gallery above a Broccatello marble top, the frieze centred by a drawer, one signed Vve Sormani & Fils, 10 r. Charlot, Paris, supported by four rectanguler fluted uprights joined by a lower shelf, on four cabriole legs, the signed table on cloven feet, the other on paw feet

Lot Essay

The firm of Sormani, established in Paris in 1847 by Paul Sormani, exhibited consistently at the International Exhibitions during the second half of the century. In 1867, the firm re-located to 10, rue Charlot. On Paul Sormani's death, the firm was taken over by his widow, and later his son, under the name of Veuve Paul Sormani & Fils, from 1878 to 1934.
