Lot Essay

Emile Guillemin (1841-1907) worked principally with heroic and exotic subjects which he developed with an acute realism that was achieved by the fine quality of his chiselling. His works are notable for their movement and energy which he achieved in all dimensions, frequently working on a scale considerably larger than nature.

A similar figure is illustrated in P. Kjellberg, Les Bronzes du XIX Sicle, 1987, p. 369.
