Tasting note: a real rarity. How any Sauternes came to be made at all in the washed-out 1954 vintage, but Yquem did. Good colour; bouquet of some depth, touch of vanilla; fairly sweet, hefty barley-sugar flavour and lip licking acidity. Last tasted September 1998. M.B.
