7 works in one volume, 8 (170 x 110mm). (Light worming to lower inner margins of final four works.) Contemporary French marbled-sheep-backed boards, vellum corners (joints weak, spine chipped), red morocco-backed slip case. Provenance: Robert Honeyman (accession number 'M49' at front, sale Sotheby' s 13 May 1980 lot 2218).
THE HONEYMAN COPY OF THIS INTERESTING COLLECTION ON MESMERISM. Mesmer's apparent cures attracted huge publicity and a large following in pre-revolutionary France. His theories prompted an outpouring of pamphlets and more substantial productions both for and against his work: the present volume stands as a fine representative sample of type of work produced.
