A PAIR OF MINTONS POLYCHROME PTE-SUR-PTE DEEP TEAL BLUE GROUND TWO-HANDLED VASES
Late 19th century, shape no. 1722, signed L.(ouis) Solon
With upright loop handles terminating in flowerheads, the neck with a band of polychrome stylized flowers and foliage above a band of polychrome lappets joined by ribbon-tied arrows at the shoulder, the body decorated in white slip, one with a nymph bearing a banner and a shield descending a staircase littered with putti, the reverse with a putto enthroned; the other a nymph holding a bow and ascending a staircase attended by putti, the reverse with a putto seated in rockwork beneath a brazier, the foot with polychrome stylized foliage
