Lot Essay

Research has not been able to find any information on a sculptor by the name of Schektel-Soleau. However, work by a fondeur by the name of E. Soleau is known. The latter cast works by Joseph Cheret, whose style is similar to the present figures, exhibiting a large figural center-piece at the 1893 Chicago Columbian Exhibition.
