Lot Essay
(1) Dubourcq was a pupil of Andreas Schelfout and travelled extensively. The present lot is part of a series of drawings from the artist's journey to Italy in 1843-4, when he visited Rome, Florence, Terni, Tivoli, Olevano, Itri and Naples. Travelling via Venice, Munich and Paris, Dubourcq returned to Amsterdam in December 1844.
