Lot Essay

(1) Lamberts, who also lived on the Bloemgracht and the Prinsengracht, did a number of drawings depicting views and interiors of the houses in which he lived. Following the death of his wife and child in 1809, he moved from the Bloemgracht to the Korte Leidse Dwarsstraat 12 (now no. 201), where he lived in 1812-3. By 1817, he had moved to the nearby Prinsengracht, where he drew the view over the Spiegelgracht sold in these Rooms, 20 November 1989, lot 287
