The case with foliate cast mounts and brass handle to the domed top, glazed side panels and on stepped and moulded base, the square brass dial with winged cherub mask spandrels, bearing spurious signature Charles Gretton London below the silvered chapter ring with half hour and half quarter hour markers, matted centre with date aperture below XII, cut steel hands, the five pillar twin wire fusee movement with verge escapement (broken stopwork), with foliate engraved backplate -- 11in. (29cm.) high
