The case with brass handle to the inverted bell top, brass fishscale sound frets to the sides and foliate quarter frets to the front, on brass bracket feet, the dial with strike/silent ring to the arch, foliate spandrels to the silvered chapter ring, with spurious signature Thomas Gurney London on a silvered disc to the matted centre, cut steel hands, the triple chain fusee movement with anchor escapement, quarter chiming on eight bells and hour striking on one, with pendulum holdfast to the backplate engraved with foliate scrolls and also with Sir THOS GURNEY LONDON; associated, movement probably second quarter 19th century, case 20th century -- 18in.
