"This painting belongs to a series of canvases through which the artist attempted to assimilate historical developments in his country. Jos Horacio Martnez establishes a place in which a territory is marked symbolically and specifically in the ritual of its reconstruction. The canvas is thus transformed into a territory and it receives the pictorial matter that the artist has mixed previously with soil collected in different areas of Colombia. He tries to consolidate through this postmodern ritual the representation of the territory through its specific signs."
