The seal, Miaoxiang, can be read as: 'Subtle Fragrance'.
For another white and russet jade pebble bottle, the so-called "Prunus-Friend's 'Remote and Tranquil Heart'" bottle, bearing the two-characters Miaoxiang within a five-character seal Xinqing Miaoxiang jian (purify the heart among subtle fragrances), see Hugh Moss, Victor Graham and Ka Bo Tsang, A Treasury of Chinese Snuff Bottles, The Mary and George Bloch Collection, Hong Kong, 1995, vol. I, Jade, pp. 378-379, no. 145. The authors note that the seal refers to the refinement of the self (purifying the heart) through delving into the esoteric matters (among subtle fragrances). The Bloch bottle bears a cyclical date corresponding to 1761 or 1821.
