The artist is Anton Wilhelm Tischbein (Haina 1730-1804 Hanau), who from 1769 was court painter at Hanau. We are grateful to Dr. Heinz of the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen, Kassel, for the attribution, given on the basis of a photograph.
