both marked with the unrecorded workmaster initials AK, Moscow, 1839 and 1845
the first tapering cylindrical, the body with two niello cartouches enclosing the equestrian figure of Ataman Platov and an architectural scene within niello scrolls, on gilt stippled ground, the second of similar shape with cast openwork mount depicting warriors amongst rococo foliage, both marked under base
the larger 2.7/8in. (7.3cm.) high
