Maker's mark of George Methuen, London, 1750
Pyriform, the body elaborately repouss and chased with fruit, palms, flowers and a bird enclosed by rocaille and scrolls, each side chased with a rococo cartouche engraved with monogram JMP, the spout cast and chased with scalework, scrolls and rocaille, the hinged domed cover surmounted by baluster finial with rocaille, the overhead swing handle with scroll joins, the stand with openwork apron cast with scrolls and rocaille, on three scroll supports with rocaille pad feet and centering a burner, marked under base, cover, and lampstand
