Lumberjack, California

In 1943, Abbott was hired by Hudson D. Walker to photograph his California based company, The Red River Logging Company. Having rarely photographed in California, the M. H. de Young Memorial Museum in San Francisco organized an exhibition of Abbott's photographs from this series in February 1944. This image was later included in an exhibition titled Photography Today at the ACA Gallery in New York in July 1944.
