A fish on a terracotta platter with fruits, vegetables and a cheese , asparagus, artichokes and cherries in a scalloped dish, a cheese in a basket, a bowl of wild strawberries, lemons, oranges, crabs, fish, bread, glasses and a copper bucket on a ledge

Previously attributed to Franois Habert, this still life has much in common with the signed still lifes by Jacob Fopsen van Es in the Koninklk Museum voor schone Kunsten, Antwerp, no. 5030 of the 1948 catalogue, and the picture of 1631 in the Russell collection, Amsterdam, exhibited in the Amsterdam Historisch Museum, 1970, no. 28; and it is to van Es that Mr. Fred Meijer believes that the picture can be confidently attributed (letter of 10 August 1999).
