Geneva, circa 1780/1800, bearing prestige marks
Oval box, the cover, four side panels and base enamelled in translucent blue on a concentrically reeded engine-turned ground scattered with pellets, within reeded gold and opaque white enamel bands, the lid inset with an oval enamel miniature depicting a couple in classical costumes at an Altar of Love in a landscape, within a split-pearl frame, the sabl gold borders stamped with translucent green enamelled leaves alternating with opalescent enamelled beads, the side pilasters similarly decorated with white enamelled columns, the lower frosted gold border of the sides set with translucent green enamelled pellets
