A RARE GEORGE I GOLD SNUFF-BOX SET WITH MINIATURES
English, circa 1715/1725, the miniature inside by Carl Gustav Klingstedt, signed and dated 1707
Flattened oval box, the cover set with a glazed gouache miniature depicting the coat-of-arms of the Dukes of Beaufort on a blue ground, the inside of the box with a second hinged lid containing a grisaille miniature slightly heightened with pink and red depicting a young lady preparing for a bath in a fountain in the foliage background, plain gold sides and base with reeded rims, slightly everted thumbpiece
