Paris, 1765/1766, with the charge and discharge marks of Jean-Jacques Prvost, the countermarks of Julien Alaterre and Jean-Baptiste Fouache, the warranty mark for gold Paris 1819-1838, maker's mark indistinct, struck with inventory number 391 and later French control marks
Oval box, the cover, four side panels and base enamelled en plein with oval reserves depicting playful putti painted in camaeu on a blue ground, surrounded by reeded gold bands and bows, turquoise blue enamelled ribbons, rosettes, and panels of simulated marble, the sides engraved with pilasters hung with naturalistically enamelled laurel swags
