TWO MEISSEN DISHES
Mid 18th century, blue crossed swords to both, one with Pressnummer 36, the other with blue ' to the footrim
The first a large neu-Brandenstein moulded dish, painted with two specimen birds on a branch and with scattered moths, butterflies, ladybugs and other insects, 11.7/8in. (30.2cm.) diameter; the second Haussmalerei by F.F. Mayer of Pressnitz, slightly earlier in date and painted with a traveller feeding his pack-horse and donkey, a dog barking atop the saddle, within a gilt Laub-und-Bandelwerk band, the lobed border with four pairs of various blossoms, 8in.
