Probably from the stem of a chandelier, applied with a band of hexafoil flowerheads above a gadrooned lower section, enriched in iron-red, pink and gilt, painted with flowers and diamonds between C-scrolls, with a later spreading socle painted in a similar style

Lot Essay

Comparable elements are visible on the chandelier in the Dubsky-Zimmer in the MAK, Vienna. See John F. Hayward, Vienna Porcelain of the Du Paquier Period, London, 1952, pl. 24. This was the first porcelain room where the major decorative elements were executed in this new and precious material. Its splendor was only to be outshone by the Capodimonte Salotto in Naples.
