Circa 1765, iron-red star mark to the saucer
Painted after designs by Jean Pillement, the cup with a figure holding palio flags and standing on a stylized foliate bracket extending around the cup, a bird with a snake in its mouth on the far side; the saucer with a chinaman seated on a stylized throne and holding his hand over a flaming brazier, supported on a scrollwork bracket, gilt line rims (2)

Although both pieces are decorated in the same palette and by the same hand, the differing scenes preclude their having originally been paired.
