The hinged rectangular top with bead-and-reel moulded edge, enclosing a green-baize lined playing-surface, above a plain frieze, on cabriole legs headed by foliage, with scrolled feet, one hinge stamped 'H TIBATS', lacking four ear tips

The Tibats hinge, which has been recorded on a group of card-tables, was illustrated in 1966 in P. Thornton, 'A Signed Hinge', Furniture History, 1966, pp. 44-45, pl. XXIII, fig. A.
A related mahogany card-table with hinges stamped 'H. TIBATS', with egg-and-dart moulded edge and acanthus carved legs with scroll feet, was sold from the Michael Liptich Gallery, Sotheby's London, 22 May 1998, lot 82.
