A Somada style four-case inro and another
Edo Period (19th Century)
Decorated in mother-of-pearl, finely cut gold foil and black lacquer with four panels containing sprays of chrysanthemum, plum, cherry blossom and maple leaves against a background of stylised wave design, the top and base with a continuous floral design, minor inlay missing; and another four-case inro decorated in various shades of gold hiramaki-e with peony flowerheads among scrolling foliage, signed Josen saku, both with nashiji interiors
36in. (8cm.) and 2.7/8in. (7.3cm.) long respectively
