A pair of German andirons, probably circa 1600
the square section tapering uprights incised with panels of strapwork and foliate ornament, on arched bases, cast with lion masks and further conforming ornament, the andirons surmounted by oviform urn-shaped finials (probably later associated, with restorations), the wrought iron billet bars (later cut down) -- 24in. (62.2cm.) high (2)
