with a pierced fret-carved central splat and outswept arms, all in burr-yew, with a ring-turned spindle gallery, shaped seat and ring-turned legs joined by stretchers

Lot Essay

The wood used in this chair was especially selected to include the use of burr-yew in the splat and arms. In other parts of the chair, including the bow, spindles, legs and stretchers, branchwood which shows the contrasting appearance of sapwood and heartwood has been used to create the most decorative effects
