The case with later skirting to the plinth inlaid with floral marquetry within a foliate framed border, the rectangular trunk door similarily inlaid with floral marquetry inhabited with figures, dolphins and parakeets, boxwood line-inlaid rectangular panels to the sides, the hood with similarily inlaid door with later columns and now lacking the sound fret to the top, the 11in. sq. brass dial signed Matt.Crockford junior London with pierced steel hands, the matted centre with seconds ring (later hand), ringed winding holes and decorated aperture, winged cherub-and-foliate spandrels, the four ringed pillar movement with anchor escapement and outside countwheel strike on bell
