Lot Essay

The text of this book largely covers fifty tasks that can be accomplished with the help of a globe, as well as the description of a newly devised orrery. Richard Cushee was one half of the initial publishing partnership, but was succeeded by E. Cushee in 1834. Dekker and van der Krogt describe the work as "a popular text book in the eighteenth century" (p.106). By 1768, the book had reached a tenth edition.
