An exceptionally fine Mameluke sword with blade by HENRY WILKINSON (No35884), superbly etched with reversed VR cypher, eight battle-honours, regimental device and Sphinx, monogram HSC and other decoration, richly gilt crosspiece mounted with white metal Sphinx on the cussons, ivory grip with narrow gold cord, in its plated scabbard with chased gilt mounts, and leather outer cover with initials HSC
