The Fort Beaufort Burghers
Raised in December 1877, the unit was commanded by Captain J. Scott, an ex-Royal Engineers N.C.O. who had served in the Kaffir War of 1845-46. The unit was issued with 96 Medals, 33 of them with the '1879' clasp.
