A RARE 24 BORE SPANISH COLONIAL FLINTLOCK LORENZINI-MANNER SMOOTH-BORE RIFLE by JOSE de ARMENTIA, PUEBLA, MEXICO circa 1720
The barrel formed in three stages from octagonal breech, sixteen-sided transition at mid-point finishing to round out to muzzle mounted with large gilt-brass bead fore-sight, two perforated and spirally grooved tubes together with a powder-magazine suspended beneath, trigger-guard actuated mechanism release, flintlock plate engraved with scrolls and inscribed I D ARMENTYA (first intial is indistinct), walnut Catalan-style stock inlaid with two scrolling brass fret-works with brass butt plate.
