The spirit of the Renaissance has always inspired the exquisite workmanship of the Houe of Buccellati. This spirit valued goldsmiths as artists, on par with sculptors and painters, and jewellery was regarded as fine art. The resultant revival of superb engraving techniques was combined with a classical sense of proportion giving Buccellati's jewels a unique look which has often been imitated but never equalled.
When this look is combined with important gemstones such as this rare pair of almost perfectly matched 28 carat emeralds, the effect is both majestic and tasteful. This pair of stones, not enhanced in any way with artificial resins and hardeners, has been simply surrounded by flame-like leaves, which are in turn outlined with fine golden frames. Made around 1965, they are undoubtedly one of the most important pairs of ear-pendants ever made by this great jeweller.
