Lot Essay

"Concrete is forced nature. When I visit a museum and enter a room full of bad pictures but then suddenly find a picture I can linger in front of for a while, I forget the others. Public sculpture is today located in the area of tension between a modern house and a traditional monument. I find the rough brickwork construction of new buildings more interesting than the routine concealment of facades with pseudoprecious materials, since with the former the engineer's rational thinking is more closely concerned with truth." (I. Genzken, in: J. Cerrito (ed.), 'Contemporary Artists', 4th edition, Detroit 1996, p.411.)
