Lot Essay

Anomalous for a piece of such high quality, the present cup, cover and stand has no factory mark or date letter. However, the trellis decoration and tonality of the green leave no room for doubt that they were produced in or around 1757. Indeed, the incised marks of I or H and Du are found on other cup and saucer pairs marked with the date letter for 1758.

Vincent Taillandier, recorded at Vincennes and Svres as a painter of flowers and ground patterns, 1753-1790.
