Painted in colours with loose bouquets reserved on the green ground within gilt rocaille cartouches of foliate scrolls and trellis diaper issuing flower sprays

The partially visible date letter is more likely D for 1756-1757, given the pale mottled green ground and the palette of the bouquets.

Lot Essay

The mark of a script capital P, found on objects dated between 1753 and 1769 and decorated with top quality flower painting on expensive ground colours has been ascribed to Dominique Joffroy. Cf. David Peters, Decorator and Date Marks on C18th Vincennes and Svres Porcelain, London, 1997, p. 43
