Each covered in floral tapestry, the rectangular padded back with waved toprail, above downswept serpentine armrests with cabriole supports, above a padded seat, on cabriole legs carved with cartouches and acanthus husks joined by a shaped X-frame stretcher and hairy hoof feet, losses and replacements to the carving, the seat-rails and stretchers possibly replaced (2)

A very similar pair of Rgence armchairs with the same unusually low back was sold anonymously Etude Ader, Picard, Tajan, Paris, 6 June 1975, lot 93.
