A Dragonfly and Waterlily Enamel Pendant by Thesmar
The blue cloisonn enamel dragonfly applied to the green enamel leaf with glass drops depicting water, to the fancy link chain with green and pink enamel waterlily buds, the reverse in pale green enamel, circa 1900, with case marked R. Lalique, 40 Cours, Paris, pendant 8.0 cm long
With monogram for Andr Fernand Thesmar
It was Thesmar who originally rediscovered the technique of plique--jour enamelling in 1872 which had been lost since the end of the Renaissance. This particular piece is typical of what was produced in the late half of the nineteenth century with a very "japoniste" influence
