A GEORGE III SILVER CAKE BASKET, maker's mark of Thomas Chawner, London, 1784, boat shaped, on plain skirt base, the solid center engraved with vacant oval cartouche, the broad border pierced and bright cut engraved with alternate panels of interlaced, quatrefoil enclosed, ovals flanked by paterae, and then pales, above with geometrically engraved band, with beaded rims, with reeded swing handle--14in. (35.5cm.) long, 22.5oz.
