In the Gothic Revival taste, the opening with fossil marble arched insert with conforming hearth, the jambs moulded with figures of knights in armour flanking a foliate carved frieze below a gadrooned entablature, the rectangular shelf supporting a conforming overmantle with further integral shelf the central panel carved with a figure of a nobleman astride his stead
