A prop sword of medieval knightly form with steel blade, plain cruciform steel hilt, flattened pommel decorated either side with an embossed blue acrylic painted cross -- 39in. (99cm.) long, and corresponding black plastic scabbard with black leather covering and strap; and a prop knight's helmet of moulded perspex, spray-painted silver, the shaped visor with applied relief cross motif to the front -- both made for the 1995 Columbia film First Knight -- a similar sword can be seen in the fight sequence involving Richard Gere as Lancelot; similar helmets are seen being worn by King Arthur's knights in the battle sequences (2)

Lot Essay

The vendor, who worked on the film, apparently won the sword and helmet included in this lot, and the director's chair included in lot 12, in a raffle held at the end of picture party.
