Oblong of oval section, the base and hinged cover etched with pellet decoration over waved ground, the latter set with a cabochon sapphire thumbpiece, the interior engraved 'To Anatole de Grnewald [sic] on VIPS salute a wonderful Producer Henry Clifton', with hinge vesta compartment and aperture for tinder-cord, marked inside base and cover

Lot Essay

A gift on the completion of the film 'The VIPs' in 1963 from his friend and admirer Henry Clifton. Among other films produced by de Grunwald were 'The Queen of Spades' in 1948 and 'The Yellow Rolls Royce' in 1964.
