Lot Essay

Previously attributed to the School of Salzburg, Ludwig Meyer, whose help is here gratefully acknowledged, in a certificate of October 1999 associates the present work with a Saint Christopher in the Gemldegalerie, Berlin (inv. no. 1890), which originated in the church at Pesenbach near Linz an der Donau. The style has connections with that associated with Hans von Tbingen.
