Reginald Wells, formerly a student of the Royal College of Art is probably the first studio potter. Throughout his career he concentrated on English slipware and Chinese stonewares which were to preoccupy his successors. He set up the Coldrum Pottery in 1909 which was discontinued in 1914 in which he produced sizable pots with coloured glazes. Another Pottery which he is often associated with is the London Pottery Co. in which he made 'SOON' ware, these items were made with a mixture of clays, glazes and were based on Chinese traditions.
